Mat convos
Jun. 1st, 2007 06:06 pmIt's kinda like this in our house tonight:
Mat: What's for tea?
Me: Chicken teriyaki stir fry
Mat: Oh good. I'm starving. Can I have a bread roll now?
Me: Did you eat all your lunch?
Mat: *insert vague answer here that could mean he did or didn't eat it--I forget the wording now*
Me: Well you can eat that now
Mat: *shows me his empty lunch box as if to imply it is eaten*
Me: So did you eat it or not? Where is it?
Mat: I took it out, it's on the couch. I'm going to eat it now.
Me: OK.
Mat: *eats it* What else can I have?
Me: You can have your left over meal from last night.
Mat: OK. *eats it* Can I have a bread roll?
Me: There's some left over mashed potato you can have as well if you like.
Mat: I don't want mashed potato
Me: Well it's that or nothing.
Mat: Can I have *insert other food here that I've forgotten*?
Me: No.
Mat: Can I have a Nesquik? (milk drink)
Danny: Your Mum gave you the answer. Now because you've pestered her about it so much you will have nothing. You can wait for tea.
*Danny leaves to go to work to get something he lost*
Me *hears the microwave* What are you doing?
Mat: Heating the mashed potato.
Me: Dad said you can wait for tea! He said you were to have nothing. Put it back thanks.
Mat: OK..
Never mind the fact that he interrupted a conversation Danny and I were having to ask all this :/
Me: Mathew, come and do your piano practise
Mat: Do I have to do it now?
Me: Well, it's either that or DORE, and I'm feeding Rebekah at the moment
Mat: It's just that my favourite TV show is on...
Me: The sooner you do it the sooner it will be finished.
Mat: My favourite TV show won't be on then either
Me: I don't see why I should do you any favours, you don't do me any
Mat: Well what do you want me to do?
Me: Piano practise
Mat: what else besides that?
Me: Stop arguing with me
Mat: OK, I can do that. *stands there* So.... ? Can I watch it?
Me: No! Be obedient thanks!
Yes. I am mean and cruel. I might add that this is not a show that he watches religiously. If he seriously had a favourite show I'd know about it.
Yesterday he was SO argumentative with me in the morning it drove me nuts! He didn't complete a morning DORE exercise because he wasted too much time arguing (and nearly missed his bus)! I was SO annoyed. He does that. If you're walking along and there's a playground up ahead you say "Mat, ride your bike fast to get there and you can have a little play and then when I get there we'll keep going". If he rode on and played chances are I'd wait a bit so he'd get a decent play, but full on... he ARGUES with me the whole way there "By the time I get there and you get there there won't be any time to play..." and seriously, by the time he argues it out with me, he's right!
So yesterdays convo was like this:
Mat was already up and I came down and my first words to him:
Me: Don't forget to pack your sport uniform
Him: It's Tuesday
Me: No it's not. It's Thursday. I think you being on camp has thrown you out.
Then he went to look for his sport jumper and I told him he won't find it because he lost it and it's been gone for a couple of weeks now (I've looked for it even). He went up to his bedroom and wasted more time looking for it ANYWAY.
Then he argued about his DORE exercises. He was spending AGES putting two cushions on the floor and getting them 'just so'. I told him to hurry because that was not important and it was wasting our time. He argued about how important it was that they were straight (it doesn't seem to matter to him the other times?). I made them straight and he argued that they weren't straight...
ARGH!
