snofox: (Finished)
The little gorgeous one used to sign 'finished' as soon as we put the food bowl back on the table. Now she's getting one step ahead and signing it as soon as we start scraping the bowl to get the last bits out.

Lunch time today she signed it after a few mouthfuls and I told her that no, she's not finished. She kept doing it (but kept opening her mouth for more) so I kept feeding her anyway. Then she got upset.

I suppose I should have listened to her. That's the whole point of teaching her sign, so she can communicate without having to get to tantrum stage.

I did continue and she finished that up nicely and loved the stuff she got after that, so just as well I didn't listen to her or she would have gone hungry! I do also think I should listen to her tho and have her go hungry so she can learn not to misuse the sign. Hrmm

Danny and I really enjoyed our Valentines Dinner without the kids last night :) Got back to Grandma's and found out she'd given Bekah TWO bowls of icecream!! There is no stopping that child. She IS a mini-me!

Rebekah also puts her hand out now to indicate she wants something. She's done that for a few weeks now (I suppose I first noticed it when she got immunised, but it's more pronounced now, like "Gimme!"). She also likes to play by giving you the toy, then taking it back off you, then giving it to you again. I use it to teach her 'thank you' (both signed and spoken).

She is so much fun to watch :)

snofox: (Rebekah Crying)
Rebekah blows raspberry bubbles!

Last night when the kids were in bed I was listening to the monitor in Rebekah's room and commented to Danny that it sounded like Mat was up and walking around. Danny went to check it out and discovered the source of the noise was our little girl lying in the dark in her room happily blowing raspberries!!

She's been doing it all day today too. Heh. Teh cuteness!

She wasn't teh cuteness last night tho. She had a bad sleep, waking about 6 times or more. I get sick of doing the "night shift" but accept it as MY job because it's part of my job description and Danny works his job full time. I don't usually mind the night shift, since Bekah has slept through from 5 weeks so I can't complain. The last two weeks or so however, she has been randomly waking up from 5.30am onwards. Last night it was 3am, 4am, 5am, 6am and a few thrown in in between. The first time Danny got up even tho he's sick. So lovely of him! Her dummy was eventually found stuck between the wall and the cot. It sucked that as soon as he gets up to her it's a difficult one! (I usually go in there in the dark and feel around for the dummy, feel around for the mouth...so I don't disturb her too much, but he would have had to turn the light on and everything to find that one!). He ended up getting up twice for her and I got up about 4 or 5 times. Then this morning we're lying in bed and we hear it again...

snofox: (Rebekah awake)
(Are you sick of hearing about her yet? ;))

I've been thinking Rebekah has been getting bored with her toys lately. We've only given her 3 main ones to play with previously, so yesterday I got out the two expensive ones we bought from the maternity shop (well, traded for the maternity top I bought but never wore).

She seems to like them.

But. I've decided she's not bored with her toys... she's crankier than usual because she's teething. That's what I reckon, anyway. There's no evidence of this in her mouth yet. The evidence is in the rosy cheeks, the excess drool, and her constantly putting her fingers in her mouth. Oh, and the crankiness! Can't forget the crankiness! She's not too bad really as far as cranky goes (still placid as), but has been waking up during the night (from 6.30am onwards until her normal wake up time of 8-8.30am) and being awake for longer periods in the day she tends to make herself heard more.

At first I was thinking it's because she's not going well on the 4 hourly feeds four times a day, and at times she's not feeding well, but I don't think it is that now (and if I'm feeding her less often you'd think she'd be guzzling it down when she gets the chance!).

I've also noticed since going to the four hourly feeds that she now has a feed, play, sleep, play schedule instead of feed play sleep as it used to be. I guess her nap times will evolve a bit as she's getting older. Can't wait to do 'prep for toddlers" and that should help us out with it a bit too.

I will buy her a teething ring tomorrow.

So, anyway, here's some pics taken today: )
